All About Me!

To really give my readers a feel for the face who represents this blog site and who I am personally, I thought I would make this blog entry all about me!

Hi there! My name is Ava Hervey and I am writing to tell you a bit about me! I am not someone to typically talk about myself, but I am going to try my best. First, I’ll start with where I come from. I was born and raised in Mentor, OH and have lived in the same house for all 19 years of my life — before going away to school and moving out, of course. All of my family is in Mentor, or around the Mentor area, so leaving this city meant leaving my family…which was extremely challenging. Oh, and leaving my dog just made it ten times worse. I have a pretty big, and absolutely crazy family! I mean, we’re Italian, so what do you expect? And are all very, very close. My family spends every Sunday evening together at my grandma's house for a spaghetti dinner — and let me tell you, not being there on Sundays is something that weighs heavy on my heart. My family means everything, and they are my biggest supporters. Without all of them, I would not be the person I am today.

To continue, I will give you a peak at my personality. As a kid, I was shier then anyone you’d probably meet. Seriously, I did not talk to a single soul. I was the kid that constantly hid behind their parents and never opened their mouth. Although, it’s crazy because now, you wouldn’t know that was me. I’m not saying I’m outgoing, but I have definitely grown out of that shell of shyness. I am a bubbly, happy, and very laughable person. In fact, I laugh at anything and everything. You could tell me a lame joke and I’d laugh. A wide variety of people tell me my laugh is tremendously contagious, which makes me smile!

I am attending college to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education to become a K-5 Elementary School Teacher. I believe the early years of a child’s education are the most important years of it all. A child’s success is my top priority, and personally being able to make an impact on them is something I admire. I don’t see myself making it that far (four years), more specifically, at UA, but I am trusting the process and seeing where my path leads to! I say that because I have never really been into academics or anything school related. I know all of that is a bit upfront, but that is truly how I feel. If I didn’t have to go to college, I wouldn’t be spending this absurd amount of money to do so. Besides my thoughts on college, I will make it my duty to make my money’s worth and put in my most effort to gain the knowledge necessary to succeed in my career.

The University of Akron had caught my attention real quick while looking into colleges. It’s not too big, but it’s not too small. It’s the perfect size for the little, quiet girl that I am. I absolutely love the campus here and everything that it has to offer. Not to mention, it is only 45 minutes away from my hometown! I got to experience college a year early here at UA, and I fell in love with campus. I definitely saw myself spending what could turn out to be 4 years, or at least some time here. At The University of Akron, I expect to make life-long friends, have fun, learn new things, and most importantly, be successful in my major!

In two years from now, I hope to be on the right track to success. I hope to be making money, while continuing to learn so that in a few more years from then, I am able to start payments on my student loans and a new car. In five years from now, I hope to be “student teaching” in the city I grew up in, to later become a teacher individually. But quite honestly, none of us have any idea where we will really be in the years to come. Life is questionable. It throws curve balls, it throws us in different directions, taking us down routes we originally didn’t think we’d go down. I just hope that wherever I am in two, five, or more years, I am happy and content.

When I think about the future, I think about the career I will be in, the money I will be making, the kids I will have with my life-long partner, etc. I have a big picture in my mind of what my future will “hopefully” look like. I have a strong desire to achieve my long-term goals in the years to come. There are many steps to saving up enough money for the long-term goals I wish to fulfill, and it is not going to come easy! To achieve my goals, I will start working when I feel the time is right and slowly put even the smallest amount of money away into a savings account. In my opinion, starting to save money early is the best thing to do to be successful.

I think I did a pretty good job for not being one to talk about themselves!

That is quite a bit about me!
