An Open Letter To My Coffee Pot

To my piping-hot Coffee Pot,

Look at you, the love of my life — perched up on the granite kitchen counter with perfect posture I never could have. Waiting to hear that obnoxious alarm go off, you prepare yourself to see my ridiculous bed-head come around the corner at 8am and get me through the long, stressful school day ahead. I know you’re eager to do your little “dancy-dance” with me in the morning, while being filled with water and a few scoops of coffee grounds.

From the very first beam of sunlight to the last, you never complain! You are there through it all, no questions asked. I mean, not one. You sit there and listen to me whine about the 8 paged paper I have due, or the really hard Math problem I just can’t solve. During a moment of silence, feeling annoyed and unassured, we lock eyes and you offer your solicited advice: fill your mug with coffee, and enjoy some much needed joy and happiness!

I don’t think I could ever thank you enough for all that you do for me. I would seriously give you the world if I could. For all of your hard work and determination— I am so proud of you. A couple things I admire most about you everyday, and sooner rather than later, I hope to be just like you!

No matter the temperature outside or time in the day, your warm, delicious taste gets me through the unfamiliar things that surround me here at college, 50 miles away from home. Without you, life would simply be hard.

All my love and appreciation,

Ava
